  • 7-10 + years of experience in corporate/retail interior design
  • Graduate of a recognized school of Interior Design
  • Working toward professional designation (NCIDQ/CIDA/IDNS)
  • Basic understanding of the process of design and client/designer relationship
  • Ability to review and understand architectural/interior drawings, specifications, details, budgets, schedules and other project documentation
  • Understanding of applicable codes such as the OBC, etc.
  • Understanding of related disciplines (Mechanical and Electrical engineering) and ability to read their drawings
  • Good CAD skills and competent hand drawn skills
  • Good Revit skills
  • Basic software skills: Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Good presentation software skills: Sketch Up, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
  • Good knowledge of sustainable design principles (LEED, etc)


  • Space planning to follow program requirements
  • Preparation of finish concept and presentation boards
  • Contribute to concept development under the direction of the project designer
  • Assist in the election of finishes and furniture under the direction of the project designer
  • Undertake site surveys and equipment/furniture inventories and prepare documentation
  • Assist under supervision in the preparation of a basic set of architectural/interior drawings, specifications and details
  • Assist in the preparation of furniture specifications and furniture install/move plans
  • Site visits as an observer
  • Prepare minutes and reports under supervision
  • Undertake project filing and record project information
  • Source and research new products, furnishing, etc. for future and new projects
  • Organize product literature and library maintenance


  • Effective written and telephone correspondence with understanding of confidentiality and protocol
  • Work as integral part of a team. Understand roles and responsibilities within the team
  • Communicate regularly with suppliers, contractors and consultants and clients
  • Manage time against the requirements of the project plan
